History

Ratt Creek Then

Dating back to 1939, the Ratt Creek area consisted mainly of farmland with very few trees. The local farmers channelized the stream and altered its location in order to improve the drainage of their fields.

Ratt Creek Today

Ratt Creek is now surrounded by residential development and is overgrown with weedy, invasive trees and shrubs. In 2021, the sanitary sewer under Ratt Creek was relocated in certain areas to increase accessibility for maintenance and to make the sewer less prone to stormwater impacts. The relocation area runs primarily from the cul-de-sac on Harper Drive to the north property line behind Neubert School. This project cleared the way for the Village to begin restoring Ratt Creek and improving the natural environment.
